Operating System (OS) is a bridge between computer hardware and software, as it enables the working between them. Enabling the communication between hardware and software of a computer system, operating system or OS plays a major part in the functioning of a computer system.

The very importance of an operating system makes it an integral part of every desktop computers and laptops. Most common OS or Operating System is Microsoft Windows, Apple’s Macintosh and UNIX OS. Graphical User Interface (GUI) includes Operating System like Windows CE, System 7.x and Windows 98, Multi-User, Multithreading and Multiprocessing includes OS like Unix, Windows 2000 and Linux and Multi-tasking includes OS like Unix and Windows 2000.
